The Supplemental Security Income program will send the next SSI payment on November 1. This is the usual payday for these recipients, who have no other payday during the month. That is, all recipients collect their SSI payment on the very same day.
Social Security retirement benefits are sent on 4 different paydays instead. For example, some can get it on the third, while others on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of the month.
Important Social Security change affecting some SSI recipients positively
Like always, the SSI payment is due on November 1, but the Social Security payment for November 3 will be sent early. In other words, it will be sent early.
People who normally get their Social Security check on the third won’t have to wait that long. SSA has set aside the November paycheck for people who:
- are on Supplemental Security Income benefits and retirement or SSDI benefits simultaneously
- started receiving benefits before May 1997
And it will also be sent on November 1. So retirees and SSDI recipients will receive their November 3 payment on November 1 instead. This will be great for some SSI recipients.
Why will this be positive for some SSI recipients?
It will be great if SSI and Social Security are both sent on November 1, because some people will get all of their money at once. Here, we’re talking about people who get both Supplemental Security Income and Social Security at the same time.
You can get rid of any loans or debts you need to pay off quickly this way. You will be able to choose what to buy or spend the money on from the first day on, which is better.
Aside from that, SSI recipients may see a small raise in their payments because of some rules that began to change in October. But the 2025 COLA won’t be sent until December 31, 2024.
