Golden City man found with bomb in vehicle

MO. (KFVS)— A man from Golden City was caught for having a bomb on him and breaking several traffic laws.

Court records show that 52-year-old Terry Don Mitchell was arrested on charges of driving while suspended, running an unregistered vehicle, failing to register a motor vehicle, and illegally possessing, transporting, or making a weapon.

It’s likely that on September 24, a deputy from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office pulled Mitchell over because the tags on his Jeep were outdated from 2022.

The deputy told Mitchell how to get his car back after it had been taken and then asked if there was anything else they should know about the Jeep.

Mitchell said that there was something in the middle panel that was wrapped in tape. He said the thing was a bomb.

The story was checked by experts, who were also able to defuse the bomb.

Mitchell was taken to Barton County on a bond of $50,000. On October 1, there will be a case management meeting.
