On December 11, 2024 the Social Security Administration (SSA) confirmed a fresh SSDI payout. While some recipients of disability insurance received their checks on December 3, this is either because they started receiving their disability benefits before May 1997 or because they also get SSI benefits concurrently.
Should you not qualify for either the SSDI payment on December 11 or the one on the third, there will be two further checks following. Naturally, you must have worked and paid sufficient payroll taxes to qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance. More importantly, you have to have a qualifying handicap that fits SSA’s exact definition of disability.
SSDI payment on December 11
Remember that regardless of the month your birthday falls in, you must have been born between the 1st to the 10th if you want SSDI on December 11, 2024. You will not be qualified if you received benefits prior to May 1997 or are on SSI.
Those whose birth dates fall between 11 and 20 will obtain their Social Security Disability Insurance benefits on December 18. Wednesdays for the disability benefit payments on December 11 and December 18.
On the fourth Wednesday, the last SSDI payment made in December 2024 won not be issued though. This is so because Wednesday, December 25 is Christmas, a Federal Holiday as well.
SSDI maximum and average amounts on December 11
Your job history and the taxes you paid Social Security will determine how much your SSDI payout is. Still, according to the SSA’s COLA fact page, average payments will be roughly $1,542.
Although this is somewhat rare, if you were a high earner you may obtain up to $3,822. Social Security grants so much money only to people who paid the taxable maximum for 35 years.
The 2025 COLA rise will not be included in any of the SSDI December payments. Therefore, qualified recipients will have to wait until January 3, 8, 15 or 22 to receive their new and update payment with 2025 COLA.
