MENOMONIE, Wisconsin – Firefighters in western Wisconsin saved a man’s life on Sunday after he became trapped inside a massive silos.
According to the announcement, the Menomonie Fire Department was sent to assist the Boyceville Fire Department in rescuing a man who was stuck in the silo. The man was about 60 feet above earth, trapped in a sweep auger.
A Boyceville EMT, a Boyceville firefighter, and two Menomonie Fire Department paramedics ascended the silo chute to rescue the victim.
Paramedics administered pain relief, sedative, and a tourniquet before safely extracting him.
The Menomonie Fire Department’s Ladder Truck was used to cut up the silo chute and safely lower the patient to the ground. The man was then transported by helicopter to a trauma center for further medical care.
