Elk sited in eastern Iowa earlier this week

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) — During the course of the preceding week, a deputy who worked for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was going to be in for a very impressive and unexpected surprise.

As reported by KCRG, a deputy was on a route early on Monday morning (September 9), when he came across an elk that was wandering along Shannon Drive close to West High School in Iowa City.

The elk was traveling in the direction of the school. As it moved toward the district, the elk was traveling in that direction.

In accordance with a post that was published on Facebook by the Iowa City Sheriff’s Office, the elk has been seen in a number of different locations throughout the capital city.

According to the Department of Natural Resources of Iowa, elk were once native to the state of Iowa; however, as the state’s population and development rose, they finally left the state.

This information was published by the department. There are less than ten of them dispersed over the state of Pennsylvania, according to figures that were provided by authorities from the Department of Natural Resources.

Because elk are also considered to be a protected species, hunting them is not permitted in the state of Iowa. This is because of the fact that elk are protected.
