- have a low income
- have little or no resources
- (both) meet the income and resource limits
- meet one of these 3 conditions:

- is at least 65 years old
- is blind

What is the maximum amount for SSI per year if you are not married?
The most you can get each year will depend on how you qualify. An important person, for instance, can get up to $484 a month. Following the 2025 COLA increase that will happen on December 31, 2024, that comes to $5,815 per year.
Supplemental Security Income payments may also be available to a person. The most that can be given in a year is $11,604. That means the biggest check or direct deposit you can get each month is $967.
Right now, the most an essential person can get from SSI is $472, and the most a person can get is $943. For an essential person, the benefit is $5,673 a year, and for an individual, it can be up to $11,321.
