Dunn County Humane Society sponsors a Walk for Paws event to raise awareness about domestic violence

MENOMONIE, Wis. – When it comes to domestic abuse, October is the month to be. The Dunn County Humane Society has collaborated with The Bridge to Hope to organize their annual Walk for Paws event.

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness and finances for the issue of domestic violence, which affects both people and their dogs.

The purpose of the annual event, which is to call attention to domestic abuse, has remained the same, despite the fact that the distance of the walk itself and the activities that pet owners can participate in with their furry friends that are available to them have changed from year to year.

This event is a first of its kind because of the partnership between the humane society and The Bridge to Hope.

Harvey Weidman, the shelter manager for the Dunn County Humane Society, stated that the decision was made due to the fact that both groups interact with victims of domestic abuse throughout their everyday operations.

Weidman made the statement that those of us who work there are frequently confronted with instances of domestic abuse.

“We are seeing the victims and the survivors of that, and unfortunately, violence affects everyone in the home, including the pets,” said the speaker.

Pets are frequently the first casualties in the home, and they are frequently the ones that are forgotten about and forgotten about.

The Dunn County Humane Society has high hopes that its connection with The Bridge to Hope will continue to expand, and that the Walk for Paws event that will take place the following year will be even more successful and larger than the one that already took place.
