An 89-year-old driver struck and killed a 73-year-old lady crossing a street in Freeport, Nassau County police said on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Barbara Martin of Freeport was crossing North Main Street heading east at Stevens Street in Freeport on Tuesday, December 17, at 5:04 p.m., police said. According to authorities, the 2014 Lincoln was traveling southbound when it collided with her.
Martin was brought to a neighboring hospital and pronounced dead at 6:38 p.m., according to medical officials.
A nearby hospital treated the driver for minor injuries.
Police are still investigating the event.
