Convicted felon accused of trafficking drugs across 2 Maine counties

A person who has been guilty of a crime is accused of moving cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine between two counties in Maine.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says that Joey St. Hilaire, 52, of Brownfield was charged with aggravated drug trafficking and having a gun while being a banned person.

At first, St. Hilaire was being looked into for illegally having a gun, but the case grew when police learned that he was also suspected of drug trafficking.

The drug police said Thursday that St. Hilaire was arrested without any problems in the driveway of his Fulcher Lane home around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police searched his home and found a 9 mm handgun, a rifle, more than 500 bullets, 3.5 pounds of cocaine, fentanyl, and meth, and what they think are drug profits worth more than $25,000.

The drugs are worth around $90,000.

He was taken to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris, where his $75,000 bail was set.

There was no new information available right away.
