Citizen s Guide to the 2024 Maine Referendum Election released

AUGUSTA — Following the publication of the Citizen’s Guide to the 2024 Maine Referendum Election, the office of the Secretary of State has taken action.

The online guide is a resource that may be used to better inform voters about each issue on the referendum and the implications of those questions.

The booklet will provide voters with an explanation of the meaning of a “Yes” or “No” vote, as well as the terminology that is used in each question, a synopsis of the law that each question represents, and an explanation of the voting process.

As an additional feature, the guide offers an estimation of the monetary impact that each referendum question will have on the state’s income, appropriations, and allocations.

There will be five questions on the ballot for the referendum in the state of Maine this year.

Question one, which is a citizen’s initiative to limit payments to political elections, question four, which proposes a $30 million trails bond, and question five, which suggests modifying the design of the Maine State Flag, are some of the more famous of the questions that have been asked.
