The Social Security Administration (SSA) has stated that the payments will happen in October. People in the United States who get SSI, retirement, or SSDI can find out how much money they will get next.
For example, SSA has set October 1 as the date for your payment if you get Supplemental Security Income (SSI). People who are eligible can get up to $943, or $1,415 if they are married. This is the only paycheck they will get. Here are the rest of the payments that retirees and people who get unemployment insurance will get.
Social Security and the COLA increase figure announcement
The COLA raise for 2025 will be announced by the Social Security Administration on October 10. It will be a lot less than in the past, but no one knows the exact amount.
Still, the Senior Citizens League‘s predictions are very close to the truth. They also say that Social Security could go up by about 2.5%. The COLA rise has been going down because inflation has been going down.
The new COLA will not be added to retirement, SSDI, and SSI payouts by the government until January 2025 for all benefits and December 31 for SSI. SNAP benefits, on the other hand, will go up in October 2024. In order to get retirement or disability benefits, you need to earn a certain amount of work credits.
Social Security payment schedule for October
The first payment date that seniors and people who get SSDI could get is October 3. But you have to meet the rules set by the Administration in order to get them.
- on Social Security before May 1997, or
- be receiving SSI benefits simultaneously
- filing and approval is necessary
- remaining eligible and not breaking SSA rules is essential
The other payments are due on October 9, 16, and 23. You can’t be getting SSI or Social Security before May 1997 if you want to get money on any of these times. People with birthdays between 1 and 10, 11 and 20, or 21 and 31 can get money on those paydays.
