They found a stolen camper in another town while they were on a different job.
Officials Say a Man’s Arrest Was Not Connected to the Stolen Camper
During a search, 46-year-old Scott Stanley of Hudson was arrested on outstanding charges. His arrest had nothing to do with the camper being stolen.
Maine Deputies Saw the Camper When They Were at a Separate Investigation
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office says that finding the camper was just a lucky accident. On September 9, deputies were told that a camping trailer had been stolen from a home in Lee.
However, it wasn’t until more than a week later that they found the trailer at a home in Drew Plantation for a different reason.
Lucky for them, the officer who was looking into the theft in Lee was also on call in Drew Plantation and saw the stolen camper parked at the back of the house.
More Charges are Pending for the Person(s) Who Stole the Camper
With a search warrant, deputies went back to Drew Plantation on September 17 and confirmed that the tent they found was the one Lee had stolen.
Authorities were able to figure out who put the camper there because there were many people on the land.
The person or people who stole the camper have not yet been named because they are still being charged.
More crimes involving the camper were found, and police say that more charges are likely. Stanley was arrested on warrants, which had nothing to do with the camping trailer.
