Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is a low-income household support service that helps needy children get money and medical care so their parents can pay for things like food, clothes, and a place to live.
TANF is a federally funded state program that helps low-income families with kids under 18 who are having a hard time. It gives them cash benefits to help them pay for basic things and set them up for future financial security.
The new TANF payment date was officially confirmed for 2025
TANF is a very important benefit program all over the United States. Thousands of people have signed up to receive TANF Cash Benefits payments. In addition to the monthly payment schedule, each state has its own rules about who can get TANF money.
To be eligible for the TANF program, applicants must meet a number of requirements, such as having a maximum family income, a list of their assets, and proof of how much they spend on child care and support.
People who are eligible for TANF usually get their money on the first business day of the month after being approved. However, some states send direct deposits at different times throughout the month, like Texas, which uses an Eligibility Determination Group (EDG) number as explained below:
- EDG # ending in 0: Payments will be available on January 2nd
- EDG # ending in 1: Payments will be available on January 3rd
- EDG # ending in 2: Payments will be available on January 5th
- EDG # ending in 3: Payments will be available on January 6th
- EDG # ending in 4: Payments will be available on January 7th
- EDG # ending in 5: Payments will be available on January 9th
- EDG # ending in 6: Payments will be available on January 11th
- EDG # ending in 7: Payments will be available on January 12th
- EDG # ending on 8: Benefits available on January 13th
- EDG # ending in 9: Payments will be available on January 15th
The Florida Access card, the state’s Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, is used to administer TANF payments in Florida, per case number:
- If your case number’s ninth and eighth digits are 00-03, your benefits are deposited on the 1st of the month.
- If your case number’s ninth and eighth digits are 04-06, your benefits are deposited on the 2nd of the month.
- If your case number’s ninth and eighth digits are 07-10, then your checks will be deposited on the 3rd of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 11-13, then your benefits are deposited on the 4th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 14-17, then your benefits are deposited on the 5th of the month.
- If digits 9 and 8 of your case number are 18-20, your benefits are deposited on the 6th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 21-24, your benefits are deposited on the 7th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 25-27, your benefits are deposited on the 8th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 28-31, your benefits are deposited on the 9th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 32-34, your benefits are deposited on the 10th day of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 35-38, your benefits are deposited on the 11th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 39-41, your benefits are deposited on the 12th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 42-45, your benefits are deposited on the 13th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 46-48, your benefits are deposited on the 14th day of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 49-53, your benefits are deposited on the 15th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 54-57, your benefits are deposited on the 16th day of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 58-60, your benefits are deposited on the 17th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 61-64, your benefits are deposited on the 18th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 65-67, your benefits are deposited on the 19th day of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 68-71, your benefits are deposited on the 20th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 72-74, your benefits are deposited on the 21st of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 75-78, your benefits are deposited on the 22nd of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 79-81, your benefits are deposited on the 23rd of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 82-85, your benefits are deposited on the 24th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 86-88, your benefits are deposited on the 25th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 89-92, your benefits are deposited on the 26th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 93-95, your benefits are deposited on the 27th of the month.
- If your case number’s 9th and 8th digits are 96-99, your benefits are deposited on the 28th of the month.
