A USPS employee was fatally shot by a coworker at a processing center in Texas, according to investigators.
Around 10 p.m. Monday, police responded to reports of an active shooter at the South Houston Local Processing Center in Missouri City, Houston, according to Dana Carter, an inspector with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Houston Division.
Police said KPRC2 that an employee fired fire inside the building, killing another employee.
Employees were swiftly evacuated from the facility, and the suspect was detained.
“I can affirm that there was one person involved. That person is in custody, and the community is safe. Carter stated that there is currently only one victim.
“That person has died, and this is still an active inquiry. We will continue to work on notifying next of kin.
The identity of the victim and suspect have not been revealed, and the motive for the attack is unknown.
