Alleged threats shut down the Neosho post office; a Joplin man is convicted

JOPLIN, Missouri — A Joplin man has been charged after police say he threatened to shut down the Neosho post office.

Earlier this week, Newton County prosecutors accused Zachary Weaver, 39, with terrorist threats and harassment.

According to police, Weaver repeatedly called an alleged victim and threatened to shoot him and “shoot up” the Neosho post office where he works.

The individual being intimidated told authorities that he was so afraid that he had to close the post office.

Weaver is not currently in detention.
