Alaska Airlines' aircraft to Seattle was diverted back to San Jose.

A Seattle-bound Alaska Airlines flight departing from San Jose Mineta International Airport on Wednesday morning was forced to return to San Jose. According to flight tracking website FlightAware, the flight took off around 10:13 a.m. and returned to SJC about 40 minutes later.

According to an Alaska Airlines spokesperson, the plane returned to SJC safely after a mechanical issue was detected in the flight deck.

“Pilots followed appropriate procedures and requested a priority landing,” the spokesperson stated.

Alaska Airlines’ maintenance teams examined the aircraft and were able to resolve the problem.

“Our pilots are trained for situations like this and we thank them for their professionalism in handling the situation,” the spokesperson for the carrier stated. “We apologize to our guests for the delay, and we will get them on their way to Seattle shortly.”

According to the Alaska Airlines website, the flight, which was originally scheduled to take off at 10:01 a.m. and land at 12:30 p.m., has been rescheduled to take off at 12 p.m. and land at 2:45 p.m.
