A woman has pleaded guilty to the act of setting fire to a church on the Northside of Jacksonville, resulting in a $400K loss

According to the documents filed with the court, a woman will serve a sentence of three years in jail for causing a fire at a church on the Northside in July, which resulted in damage totaling more than $400,000,000.

The 45-year-old Crystal Spicer entered a guilty plea earlier this month to charges of burglary and arson in the second degree.

The allegations stem from the fact that she was discovered by emergency personnel at the Believer’s Joy Worship Center on July 23, 2024.

When Spicer was taken into jail, the church was engulfed in flames that were roughly thirty feet. This is according to the arrest report that she submitted.

According to the findings of the investigation, she was in possession of Christian music CDs, DVDs, and booklets from several churches.

Officials reported that approximately twenty fire trucks had arrived at the location to put out the flames, and that no one had been injured as a result of the incident.

At the time of the fire, the church, which could be found at 13066 Yellow Bluff Road, had been in operation for forty-five years.

As a result of his time served, Spicer was also awarded 71 days of credit.
