A pre-trial hearing was held on Thursday for the State of Maine v. Roland Flood

SKOWHEGAN — In the case of State of Maine v. Roland Flood, a pre-trial hearing took place in Skowhegan on Thursday, October 17.

Mark Trabue died in July 2023, and Flood has been charged with one count of murder.

In a Somerset County courtroom on Thursday afternoon, Flood’s lawyer asked for a move to suppress evidence that the State had brought up.

It was possible to question three officers from the Maine State Police. Beginning on July 9, each of them had about six meetings with Flood before he was arrested.

The detectives were asked by the prosecution to describe the day they issued a search order for Flood’s home.

“He said, ‘You know you don’t have to talk to us, right?'” I believe I told him twice. Officer James Moore of the Maine State Police said, “He cooperated and was willing to talk to us.” Moore was asked, “And is it during this interview that at this point you advised Mr. Flood that Mark is no longer a missing person but that he’s deceased?” In response, he said, “Yes.”

In the end, a choice will be made, but the judge in charge said that choice would come before the jury choosing that will happen in the next few weeks.
