STATEN ISLAND, New York — An NYPD detective was arrested after officials allegedly seized ghost weapons during a raid on his home in Prince’s Bay on Tuesday evening, according to various sources.

Anthony Sciortino, 35, is accused of official misconduct and was caught at 8 p.m. in the 123rd Precinct on the South Shore, according to a person familiar with the inquiry.

Sciortino was charged with tampering with public records, manufacturing a machine gun, rapid-fire modification device, hazardous instrument, computer trespass, fabricating company records, illegal computer use, and official misconduct.

Sciortino has been with the NYPD since 2011, and he is currently a third-grade detective assigned to the 120th Precinct, public records show.

According to a resident of Ashland Avenue, where the raid occurred, “in the blink of an eye,” the defendant’s home was “swarmed with undercover detectives and a SWAT team, and they proceeded to go to the side apartment where he lives.”

Sciortino has lived alone on the block for roughly six years, according to a local.

Prior to this encounter, the resident described him as “very nice”.
