JOPLIN, MO. – The Missouri Highway Patrol is looking into a deadly officer-involved shooting in the Joplin region.
The event occurred Sunday night, about 6 p.m. Jasper County deputies went to a disturbance at a residence in the 800 block of West Fountain Road.
Investigators said Michael Antwiler, 60, of Joplin, stepped out onto the porch with a shotgun and shot at a deputy. The deputy returned fire, hitting Antwiler.
The deputy helped Antwiler. He later died at a Joplin hospital. The deputy did not sustain any injuries.
