A crash in western Wisconsin killed one person, and an Eau Claire man was arrested

MENOMONIE, Wisconsin — Following an incident near Menomonie, a man died and the driver of another vehicle was detained for allegedly drinking and driving.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash happened at the intersection of County Highway E and Highway 12 around 2:30 Tuesday morning.

The 56-year-old driver of a Subaru Outback from Eau Claire was pronounced dead at the scene when officials discovered him in his overturned vehicle.

The other vehicle’s driver, a 40-year-old Eau Claire resident, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials. According to the State Patrol, he was arrested for homicide by impaired driving. His passengers, aged 30, 20, and 23, were also injured. Authorities classified the 30-year-old’s injuries as life-threatening.
