New York — Police in New York City are investigating a woman’s terrible discovery of her companions dead with their necks cut in their Brooklyn home.
On Sunday afternoon, the woman went to visit Jacqueline Delyons, 66, and her 91-year-old father, Roosevelt Simmons, in their Cypress Hills home.
She discovered them laying on the kitchen floor with cut wounds and quickly dialed 911, according to authorities.
Victim’s boyfriend arrested
According to authorities, Delyons’ boyfriend was at home when the woman came. She inquired what occurred after viewing the bodies, and he allegedly said, “You know what happened.”
Police detained Lewis Kerry, 46, for questioning before arresting him on Monday.
“This is shocking to me. Hubert Walcott, a neighbor, remarked, “Doesn’t seem like the type of person who would do something like that.”
“I never heard him cuss, or anything like that. Darryl Moorer, a family friend, said, “The guy was a good guy, but I have no idea what happened.”
Kerry was charged with first-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm in the third degree, according to authorities.
Community grieves deaths of father and daughter
Meanwhile, relatives and friends are mourning the deaths of Delyons and Simmons, whom they dubbed “Bubba.”
“Right now, we’re still trying to wrap our heads around all of this,” said Ramon Berghout, Delyons’ ex-partner. “Jackie was the mother of my son… “A beautiful person.”
“She’s a very friendly person, Jackie,” Walcott explained.
“I’ve been on this block for more than 45 years. “Bubba and Jackie are good people,” Moorer stated. “Bubba used to come to our barbershop all the time, get his haircut on the regular.”
Neighbors stated Delyons and Simmons had lived in the neighborhood for decades and they had never noticed any odd activity at the house.
