RURAL MOORHEAD, Minnesota – A hunter was taken to the hospital after receiving a gunshot wound to the head on the first weekend of Minnesota’s rifle deer hunting season.
What we know
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a hunter was shot in the head on Saturday morning.
Authorities say they responded to the 4600 block of 90th Avenue North in rural Moorhead shortly before 8 a.m.
Deputies then discovered the hunter, a 34-year-old male from Dilworth, with a gunshot wound to the head.
The hunter was subsequently transported to a hospital in serious condition.
What we don’t know
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office did not say whether the man shot himself or if anyone else was involved.
Authorities have not provided any information on the hunter’s current status.
