Police said that a guy in New York allegedly beats up stranger for wearing pro-Trump hat in supermarket

According to authorities, a guy from Bath, New York was detained on Friday for allegedly beating up a stranger at a grocery while wearing a Trump 2024 hat.

The Village of Bath Police Department reported that Robert Yott, 60, was charged with felony second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

Police said officers were summoned to the Tops Friendly Markets on West Morris Street about 10 a.m. on Friday after receiving a report of a brawl.

When investigators arrived at the location, they discovered Yott allegedly accosted a stranger wearing a Trump 2024 cap.

The investigation also indicated that Yott grew hostile with the stranger, punching him in the lips and head many times.

As a result, the victim’s teeth cracked and his mouth turned crimson, according to police, who reiterated that the two did not know each other.

Yott was arrested and brought to the Steuben County Jail, where he is now awaiting arraignment.

With only around 48 hours till Election Day, tensions continue to rise, even as individuals wear hats to signify their preference for president.

During a live postgame interview last week, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa proudly displayed a “Make America Great Again” hat.

Bosa interrupted 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy’s postgame interview following the team’s victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Bosa then pointed at his headwear.

“I’m not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time,” he remarked after the game.

Meanwhile, Robert Rivas, the 71st Speaker of the California State Assembly, has asked for Bosa to be traded.

“I hope that [49ers CEO] @JedYork trades Nick Bosa to Mar-A-Lago. “As a lifelong @49ers fan, I’ve seen enough of Bosa in California,” Rivas wrote on X. The post has now been removed.

In September, the Arizona Cardinals apologized to a woman who was informed she had to remove her “Make America Great Again” hat before entering the team’s stadium for a game.

Susan Rosener, an Arizona resident and Cardinals season ticket holder, and her husband were on their way to their seats when a stadium employee wrongly instructed her to remove her hat, according to several reports.

Rosener was apparently told that she couldn’t wear political hats or shirts.

Turning Point Action Field Rep. VP Alyssa Goncales first reported the incident on X, where she also shared claimed screenshots of text chats with other attendees who were either forced to remove MAGA caps or watched others being compelled to do so.

While the Cardinals have a list of prohibited items for entering State Farm Stadium on game days, “political hats or shirts” are not on it.

The team ultimately apologized for the incident.
