SSI update: No payment on December 1, here’s the new payday Social Security set

SSI update No payment on December 1, here’s the new payday Social Security set

The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program does not always send out monthly payments on the same day. In general, direct deposits and checks are issued on the first of each month. However, these days may occasionally fall on a weekend or even a federal holiday. When this occurs, the Social Security Administration (SSA) must rearrange the paydays.

As a result, the December 1 SSI payment has been pushed back to an earlier date. The Social Security Administration has planned direct payments and checks for November 29 because sending them on December 1 will be impractical. That’s 48 hours or two days in advance.

How much money will SSI recipients get on November 29, 2024?

If you remain qualified and your financial or personal condition has not altered, you will be paid the same amount as on November 1, 2024. The average SSI payout is $697, down from $698 in the previous monthly snapshot provided by the SSA. Check all the available payment amounts below:

  • Average Supplemental Security Income for all beneficiaries: $697
  • Average Supplemental Security Income for the under 18 group: $813
  • Average Supplemental Security Income for those recipients aged 18-64: $743
  • Average Supplemental Security Income for those beneficiaries aged 65 or 65+: $574

SSI recipients who have recently married, begun working, or experienced other significant changes in their lives must report it. This is because your payment amount may vary. It could sometimes be higher or lower. It will depend on the situation.

Will the November 29 SSI payment include the cost-of-living adjustment (2025 COLA)?

The SSI payment for December, due November 29, 2024, will not include the 2025 COLA rise. In fact, recipients will have to wait until December 31, 2024, to benefit from the 2025 COLA rise.

While all Social Security claimants on retirement or disability (SSDI) payments will have to wait until January 2025 for the 2.5% increase, those on Supplemental Security Income will receive it considerably sooner.

Keep in mind that retirees and SSDI claimants will get their first January installments between January 3 and January 22, 2025. Apply for SSI if you have a low income and little or no resources.
