Police in Washington state revealed video evidence this week showing a pair of alleged killers strolling up to a family house, hesitating briefly as a neighbor passes by, then opening fire and killing a mother of five.
Carolynn Williams, 45, was getting her feet rubbed by her husband, Charles Williams, when the suspects fatally shot her in the head last February, according to Charles Williams and local authorities. Four of her children were sleeping inside the house when the shooting occurred around 1:21 a.m., according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
“As soon as I heard the first shot, I told her they were shooting and to come follow me,” Charles Williams said in an interview with Seattle Fox station KCPQ earlier this year. “But she had already been hit.”
The incident on February 24, 2023 left Charles Williams and the children uninjured. On March 2, 2023, his wife died as a result of injuries caused by a gunshot to the head.
“Once I heard the gunshots stop, it was the most terrifying feeling in the world because I thought they were coming in to kill everybody,” Charles told the news station.
Investigators think that, while Williams’ home was targeted in the attack, she was not the intended target. It is unknown whether Charles was the target of the shooters or someone else who was observed in the property, and police did not immediately respond to Law&Crime’s demands for comment.
On Tuesday, KCSO police and Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound released fresh security footage showing Williams’ alleged killers outside her home soon before the shooting.
In a video published in March 2023, the suspects were also seen driving and parking a dark-colored four-door vehicle nearby. This is the first time police have released footage of the suspects walking up to the Williams house.
“I think these are very violent individuals, and I don’t think there is any reason to believe this was an isolated incident on their part,” Kitsap County Sheriff’s Detective Tim Flint told KCPQ last week.
“We think they are either from Kitsap or have strong local ties to the Kitsap area,” Flint told me. “They knew where they were headed, and this was a deliberate event. They had planned to shoot up this house, and this was not an isolated act of violence.”
Anyone with information or tips about the event is requested to contact Crime Stoppers or the Sheriff’s Office.
