The first snow of the season brings crashes and fatalities

The first snowfall of the season kept the Minnesota State Patrol busy responding to wrecks and spinouts.

As of 5:00 p.m. Thursday, troopers had attended to 219 collisions statewide. Twenty-one persons were injured in those crashes, and one died.

The fatal crash occurred on Highway 7 in McLeod County. The crash killed a 77-year-old woman from Hutchinson.

Another 109 automobiles spun out, skidded into the ditch, and required assistance.

According to the National Weather Service, multiple initial indications indicate that three to four inches of snow will fall in a corridor between St. Cloud and the Twin Cities.
