Friday, the governor orders flags to be half-mast

Flags should be lowered to respect and remember the people who died and survived the mass shooting in Lewiston, as ordered by Governor Janet Mills.

Just-in-Time Recreation and Schemengees Bar and Grille in Lewiston were both shot and killed a year ago this Friday.

A lot of people were hurt, and 18 people died.

On Friday, Governor Mills wants all flags of the United States and Maine to be lowered to half mast.

In a statement, the Governor said, “As we remember and honor the loved ones who died a year ago, as we help those who were hurt, and as we mourn all of those who were affected by the Lewiston tragedy, we also remember how strong we are as a community, as a state, and as Maine people.”

Let’s keep reminding ourselves that we are “Lewiston Strong” and that we will continue to heal together as we go down the long and hard road to recovery.
