Wisconsin authorities are investigating a deer poaching ring including teenagers and an adult woman

Three teens and a woman in her 36s are thought to have killed more than 100 deer across a large area in eastern Wisconsin. In Fond du Lac, Dodge, and Washington counties, the sheriff’s office says the illegal behavior happened from the spring of 2023 to July of that year.

It is said that the suspects used a flashlight at night to find deer in open areas and then shot them. Some of the bucks’ heads were cut off, mostly the ones with big horns. The group allegedly drove around with the goal of hitting deer on the roads as well as shooting them.

Sheriff Ryan F. Waldschmidt told us more disturbing information about how they were acting. Reports say that “selfies” were taken with a deer that had been hit by a car, and the suspects put the hurt animal in the trunk or back seat of their car.

Sheriff Waldschmidt said in a statement, “They drove to different places with the deer still alive and suffering in the trunk or back seat and continued to make video clips documenting their travels with the injured deer.”

The brutality wasn’t just against deer. Investigators think the group also messed with other animals, like turtles, geese, foxes, and possums.

The suspects are all from Campbellsport, a small town about 50 miles northwest of Milwaukee. They are currently being questioned, and charges are being made ready to be sent to local officials.
