Maine Turnpike Authority appoints interim executive director following Mills departure

Maine (WABI) – As of today, Peter Mills is no longer the Executive Director of the Maine Turnpike Authority.

On their Facebook page, the Maine Turnpike Authority said that Mills’ last day would be Thursday.

Mills had worked for the city for 13 years. He was Governor Janet Mills’s brother.

“We appreciate Peter’s never-ending work to bring the MTA up to date.” His work to change the laws was just as important.

It helped us enforce tolls better, change the commuter discount program, and come to deals that were good for both the Authority and the public, said Dan Wathen, Chairman of the Maine Turnpike Authority.

The Interim Executive Director was named Peter Merfeld.
