There are two local schools that have made it into the Elite Eight of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative 2024 School Mascot Challenge.

In the first round, IKM-Manning Community School District (CSD) prevailed over Prairie City Monroe (PCM) High School.

In the second round, they prevailed over Emerson Hough Elementary School. The CSD of Adel DeSoto Minburn (ADM) is presently the opponent of IKM-Manning.

In the beginning of the bracket challenge, Glidden-Ralston Community School District voted for Diagonal High School and Riceville (CSD), and they were pitted against South Hardin High School.

The schools who will move on to the next round of voting will be announced on September 23. This round of voting will come to a close on Friday.

When the 14th Annual Healthiest State Walk takes place on October 2nd, the contest will come to a close.

When it comes to health and wellness initiatives for the building, the winning school will get a sum of one thousand dollars.
