The victim of a fatal Christmas Eve stabbing in Massapequa was discovered in an upstairs apartment, according to sources. Police discovered the 57-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds in a building on Old Sunrise Highway around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. She died in the hospital.
The victim has been identified as Josefina Ramirez Montero of Massapequa. Local business owners expressed disbelief. “I’m shocked,” said Tony Giordano, the owner of G.T. Precision Imports, a business near the murder scene. “My wife and I run this business here. I just didn’t think anything like that happened around here.”
Other local business owners expressed similar sentiments. Joe Calandrino, owner of JDC Lawn Sprinklers nearby, described the incident as “sad.” “It’s a pretty decent area,” Calandrino said. “We haven’t had much trouble over here.” Despite growing concern, details about the killing are scarce.
A police officer was seen at the scene on Friday, speaking with a nearby business owner. On Thursday, investigators were spotted searching storm drains. Authorities have yet to release information about any suspects or the possible motive for the crime.
Police have not yet announced any arrests in connection with the murder, and it is unclear how many people were living in the apartment at the time of the incident.
