After allegedly shooting an illegal handgun into the air in the parking lot of Rockville Center, a Freeport man was taken into custody

The First Squad has arrested a Freeport man for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 2:16 a.m. at Rockville Center.

According to investigators, officers responded to the parking lot of a commercial property at 525 Merrick Road to investigate suspected firearms fired.

Responding officers were notified that a male suspect had taken a gun from his jacket pocket and discharged it into the air before fleeing the scene. After an inquiry, shell casings were discovered on the ground. There were no injuries recorded.

Following the investigation, Felix Hernandez Morales, 26, of 27 Harrison Avenue, was apprehended at his home on December 17, 2024 at 4:45 p.m. for the aforementioned crime. During the inquiry, investigators found a black Beretta APX 9mm handgun.

Defendant Felix Hernandez Morales faces two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
