WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. — The United States’ Whiteman Air Force Base will be the second base to house the B-21 Raider, the Air Force’s newest stealth bomber.
Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall III has given the go-ahead for Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri to be the second place where the B-21 Raider will be sent.
This choice was made after a thorough review process that included operational analysis, site surveys, and looking at technical, economic, and environmental factors.
The choice was affected by Whiteman AFB’s history with the B-2 Spirit and its important location.
The B-21 Raider will make the Air Force stronger by letting them enter contested areas and drop both conventional and nuclear bombs.
This week, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) said, “Whiteman Air Force Base is a key part of the United States’ nuclear triad and a key part of our nuclear deterrence.” “Not only am I proud to work for Whiteman in the Senate, but I’m also proud of Missouri’s long military history and culture.” They chose Whiteman Air Force Base to be the second operating base for the B-21 Raider.
This means that Whiteman will continue to do important work like repairing, flying, and training on the stealth bomber. I will keep working in Washington to make sure that all military bases in Missouri are up-to-date and ready for any future risks to the US.
The statement was called “huge news” for the district by U.S. Representative Mark Alford, R-Mo.
