MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) – It has been agreed by six Iowa counties that the Ports of Eastern Iowa Authority will be formed.
Officials say that this power will only work in the Mississippi River Ports of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.
It will also make the Corn Belt Ports more important in the Midwest and keep supporting their role in national defense, shipping, and business.
The Port Authority will serve:
- Clinton County
- Dubuque County
- Jackson County
- Louisa County
- Muscatine County
- Scott County
Open to everyone, the ports’ first meeting to set up their plans will take place on Oct. 10 at the Moline campus of Western Illinois University.
