56th Annual Dam Days Celebration reminisces of Crystal Cave

Wisconsin’s Spring Valley – On Friday, September 20, 2024, the 56th Annual Dam Days will begin. This weekend is the beginning of the event.

The theme for this year is “Remembering Crystal Cave,” which pays tribute to the extensive history of this prominent tourist attraction in the area, as well as the widespread experience of many members of the community who have worked there over the course of its existence.

In addition to the special events that will take place during the weekend, this theme will also be highlighted by a Crystal Cave Tour Guide Reunion that will take place on Saturday, September 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the public picnic area of Crystal Cave.

In addition to the refreshments that will be provided by the Spring Valley Chamber of Commerce, former tour guides are encouraged to attend and share their experiences and anecdotes on their time spent working in the Cave.

Additionally, the Pierce County Historical Association (PC HA) will be exhibiting their display of the 1942 Flood at the Spring Valley Community Center between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the whole weekend.

The display will include film footage of the aftermath of the flood that was captured by two different persons.

In addition, there will be a substantial exhibition of Crystal Cave artifacts, as well as a presentation given by Jeannie Place Cunnigham, who was one of the co-owners of Crystal Cave from 1986 until 2012.

In addition, Jeannie and her husband Blaze will serve as the Grand Marshals of Dam Days in 2024.
